Master Marcio Mendes

is a fighter. The second youngest of a modest family of nine brothers and sisters, Marcio was born in the small town of Macapa, northern Brazil. Raised in the middle of the Amazon forest, from an early age he learned to respect and admire nature. Marcio Mendes has traveled the world and has made Canada his second home. Through his teachings he has touched the lives of thousands of people; from children to the elderly, from the physically disabled to athletes, from businessmen to prisoners. He created the first capoeira course in Canada within the University of Toronto, and in 2005, officially opened the first capoeira academy in Toronto. In recent years, Marcio developed Treciral 4 Sport, based on modified Capoeira movements to help athletes gain 20' then 30' and finally 40' dominance of the field or court space at any point of contact with the ball. This is achieved by athletes enrolled in this program through increases in range of motion, fluidity, flexibility and most importantly, game time rhythm and intuition combined with the technical skills taught for the particular sport discipline.
